Loretta Graziano Breuning, PhD
Loretta Graziano Breuning, PhD, is the founder of the Inner Mammal Institute and Professor Emerita of Management at California State University, East Bay. She is the author of many books on happiness, including Habits of a Happy Brain and Why You're Unhappy: Biology vs Politics, and hosts The Happy Brain Podcast.
As a teacher and a parent, Loretta wasn't convinced by prevailing theories of human motivation — until she learned about the brain chemistry we share with earlier mammals, and everything made sense. Her work has helped thousands of people worldwide manage their "inner mammal" and has been translated into more than a dozen languages. She explores the biology of unhappiness, how neuroplasticity lets us rewire our brains, and how our primal instincts for status and belonging shape our happiness.
